Sumanto Kar holds an M.Tech in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from IIT Bombay and a B.E. in Electronics Engineering from Mumbai University. His core research and engineering passion lies in contributing to open-source Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools.
He is actively involved with the FOSSEE project at IIT Bombay, contributing to the development, integration, documentation, and nationwide outreach of eSim, an open-source EDA platform widely adopted across universities in India. His work focuses on strengthening open technical ecosystems, enabling reproducible engineering workflows, and bridging academic research with community-driven open-source hardware development.
